Bastion of Saint Remy

The white marble terrace overlooking the Marina, gulf and Salt Pans. Free 24/7. Climb the monumental stairs from Piazza Costituzione or take the lift from Via Regina Elena (free). Best at sunset.

Cagliari Cathedral

13th-century Romanesque-Pisan facade, Baroque interior. Crypt with relics of 179 martyrs (free, magnificent carved marble). Free entry to nave, 4 € for crypt and museum. Open 08:00–12:30 and 16:00–20:00.

Pisan towers

Torre dell'Elefante (1307, 30 m) and Torre di San Pancrazio (1305, 36 m) — both climbable, 4 € each, open 09:00–17:00. Best view: San Pancrazio (slightly higher).

Marina district

Below Castello, the old fishermen's quarter. Lunch: Sa Schironada (Sardinian, 25 €/pax, fregula with seafood 14 €), Stella Marina di Montecristo (sea view, 35 €), Antico Caffè (since 1855, espresso 1.20 €).

Beach in 15 min

Bus PF or PQ from Piazza Matteotti (1.30 €, 20 min) to Poetto Beach — 8 km of white sand, beach bars, kite-surfing.

Practical

Cagliari Airport (10 km, train to centre 1.30 €, 7 min). Walk Castello — no cars. Avoid driving up.
