Cala Luna Sardinia 2026: Caves Beach & Boat Access Guide
Cala Luna — half-moon beach in the Gulf of Orosei with 800 m of white pebbles, turquoise water and 6 sea caves carved into the cliff. The most iconic cove of Sardinia's east coast.
How to get there
No road — only by boat or hike. Boat from Cala Gonone: scheduled 25 €/pax return (departs 9:30, 11:00, returns 16:30, 17:30) or rent dinghy 150 €/day. Hike from Cala Fuili: 4 km / 1.5h one way, easy-medium, panoramic.
The 6 caves
At the south end of the beach. Free to enter on foot (dry, no swimming inside). Largest is 100 m deep. Bring torch.
Practical
No bars (one small kiosk Jun–Sep selling water 3 €, panini 8 €). Bring food and water. No sunbeds. Shade scarce — bring umbrella. Toilets at kiosk.
Combine with
Cala Mariolu (15 min boat south, more turquoise). Bue Marino caves (15 €, 1h tour). Boat day-tour 50 € visits Luna + Mariolu + Bue Marino.
Tips
Go before 11:00 (calm) or after 16:00 (boats leave). North end quieter. August: book boat 2 days ahead. Wear water shoes (pebbles hot).
