Cala Trebalúger Menorca 2027: Wild Virgin Cove with River

Cala Trebalúger — one of Menorca's last truly virgin coves on the south coast. White sand, turquoise water and a unique feature: a freshwater river ("torrent") flowing into the sea, creating a small lagoon behind the beach.

How to get there

No road — only by boat or hike. Hike from Cala Galdana: 1h15 along Camí de Cavalls (red trail), 4.5 km, medium difficulty. Pass Cala Mitjana first (good break stop). Hike from Cala Mitjana: 45 min west. Boat: from Cala Galdana 15 €/pax scheduled (10:00, 15:00) or rent dinghy from Galdana 180 €/day.

The cove

200 m of white sand, turquoise shallow water, pine forest behind. The freshwater stream creates a small natural pool — fresh swim option behind the dunes. No services, no kiosks, no sunbeds. Bring everything.

What to bring

Water (2 L/person), food, umbrella (no shade on sand), water shoes (rocks at entry), snorkel gear (clear water). Reef-safe sunscreen (protected area).

Same hike: Cala Mitjana (busier, also virgin) and Cala Macarella/Macarelleta (15 min further). Full Camí de Cavalls section 8 km, 3h, the most beautiful south-coast walk.

Tips

Go in June or September (avoid August heat on the hike). Start before 9:00 — shade scarce. Cami de Cavalls well-marked but bring offline map. Sunset boat ride back from Galdana 25 €/pax. Protected area — no camping, no fires.
