Cap de Formentor Mallorca 2027: Lighthouse, Mirador & Access

Cap de Formentor — Mallorca's wildly dramatic northern tip, the "Meeting Point of the Winds", with 300 m cliffs and a 19th-century lighthouse at the end of a serpentine 20 km road from Port de Pollença.

Access restrictions

Since 2018, the final road to the cape is closed to private cars from 10:00 to 22:30 (June–September). You must use the shuttle bus from Port de Pollença (10 € return, every 15 min) or arrive before 10:00 / after 22:30. Outside summer no restriction.

Mirador Es Colomer

11 km from Pollença, a stone viewpoint perched 232 m over the sea. The most photographed viewpoint in Mallorca — cliffs, islet of El Colomer, and the road snaking below. Free, parking small.

Formentor Lighthouse

End of the road (20 km from Pollença). 1863 lighthouse, no entry but small cafe (espresso 3 €, panini 8 €). 360° view to Menorca on clear days.

Platja de Formentor

White sand pine-fringed beach 5 km from the lighthouse. Free parking but full by 09:30 in summer. Boat shuttle from Port de Pollença (12 €, 30 min) — best option. Hotel Formentor (legendary 1929 hotel, reopened 2024 after restoration) is right here.

Best time

Sunrise (golden cliffs, no crowds, no shuttle restriction) or sunset (epic but busy). Cycle option: serious cyclists love the climb — 20 km +700 m elevation.
