Citadelle de Saint-Tropez 2027: Maritime Museum, Views & Peacocks
La Citadelle is the 17th-century hexagonal fortress crowning Saint-Tropez — home to the Maritime History Museum, free-roaming peacocks and the best panoramic view of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
Maritime History Museum
Inside the keep — Saint-Tropez's seafaring past from Phoenician trade to the 1944 Allied landings, plus a section on famous local sailor Pierre-André de Suffren. 4 €, open daily 10:00-18:30 (closed November).
The peacocks
About 20 peacocks roam free on the grounds — Instagram favorites, especially when they fan their tails at golden hour.
The view
Walk the ramparts (free) for 360° views: red roofs of the old town, Place des Lices, the bay all the way to Sainte-Maxime. Best at sunset.
Getting there
10 min uphill walk from the Old Port via Rue de la Citadelle. Free parking up at Parking de la Citadelle (limited, fills early), or paid Parking du Port (3 €/h).
Stay in a villa in Saint-Tropez or Ramatuelle and combine with a private boat day to Pampelonne.
