Citadelle Saint-Tropez 2027: Maritime Museum and Best View

·3 min

The Citadelle de Saint-Tropez is a 17th-century fortress atop the town with the best 360° panoramic view of the port, the bay, and the Maures mountains — plus a maritime museum and peacocks strolling around.

Tickets and opening hours

April-September 10:00-18:30, October-March 10:00-17:30. Combined ticket (fortress + museum) 4 €, free for under 18s. Closed on the first Monday of the month.

Maritime Museum

In the keep — 4 floors on Saint-Tropez's maritime past, from fishing to the Allied landing in August 1944. Models of 17th-century ships and artifacts from Bailli de Suffren.

Panoramic View

Walk the ramparts for free without a museum ticket. Best at sunset (18:30 in summer). The Gulf stretches to Sainte-Maxime and Port Grimaud.

Peacocks

About 20 peacocks live here, descendants of a gift to the city in the 1950s. Do not feed.

Stay in a villa in Ramatuelle or Gassin and book a private boat to Pampelonne.
