The old port
A 1 km natural fjord cut into the cliff, lined with seafood restaurants on both sides. Best at sunset (faces west) and after dark when fishing boats light up. Café Balear for caldereta de langosta (lobster stew, 80-110 €/person — Menorca's signature dish).
Cathedral and old town
14th-century gothic Santa Maria cathedral, free entry. Narrow lanes of Plaça des Born lead to Palau Salort (historic palace, 4 €) and Plaça de la Catedral with morning market.
Festes de Sant Joan (23-24 June)
Menorca's wildest festival: 200 black Menorquín horses rear up on hind legs through dense crowds in the old town. Free, no reservation — book accommodation 6 months ahead. Pure adrenaline, not for the faint-hearted.
Parking
Free parking lot at Plaça des Pins (5 min walk). Avoid driving into the old town — narrow medieval streets, restricted access.
Stay in a villa in Ciutadella or Cala Morell and add a boat day to Cala en Turqueta.
