Fira to Oia Walk 2027: Trail Map, Time & Best Direction

The Fira to Oia walk is the most iconic activity on Santorini — 10 km along the caldera rim through Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia.

Trail and time

3-4 hours one way (allow 5 with photo stops). Mixed surface: pavement, stairs and dirt path between Imerovigli and Oia. Elevation gain ~250 m. Best direction Fira → Oia to end at the sunset.

Start time

Start at 16:00 in summer (May-Sept) to reach Oia by 19:30. Bring 1.5 L water (last shop in Imerovigli), sun hat, proper trainers — flip-flops will ruin it. Bus back to Fira every 30 min until 23:00 (2.50 €).
