Fontvieille Monaco 2027: Modern Port, Car Museum & Rose Garden
Fontvieille — Monaco's newest district, built entirely on 22 hectares of land reclaimed from the sea in the 1970s under Prince Rainier III. The quieter, modern face of Monaco: a second marina, museums, gardens and the only shopping centre.
Port de Fontvieille
Monaco's second marina (after Port Hercule), 275 berths up to 60 m. Less glamorous than Hercule but quieter and cheaper. Restaurants line the quay: Beefbar (Argentinian steak, 90 €/pax), U Cavagnëtu (Monégasque, 35 €), Le Bouchon (French bistro, 50 €).
Prince's Car Collection
100+ rare cars collected by Prince Rainier III: Bugattis, Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, the De Dion-Bouton from 1903. 10 € adult, 6 € child. Open 10:00–18:00 daily. The 1956 Rolls-Royce used at Grace Kelly's wedding is here.
Princess Grace Rose Garden
Free. 8.000 rose bushes of 300 varieties planted by Prince Rainier in memory of Grace Kelly (died 1982). Best in bloom May–October. Quiet escape from the city — bring a book.
Stade Louis II
AS Monaco's stadium (Ligue 1). Tours 11 €. Built into the cliff, with parking under the pitch — engineering marvel. Match tickets from 25 €.
Shopping Centre Fontvieille
Carrefour supermarket (rare in Monaco — locals shop here), 30 stores, food court. Practical lunch under 15 € — useful when Monte-Carlo prices feel steep.
How to get there
Bus 5 or 6 from Casino Square (2 €, 10 min). Lift down from Le Rocher old town. 15 min walk from Port Hercule. Parking 3 €/h at the Stade or shopping centre.
