Marina Grande is Capri's main harbor — where every ferry from Naples and Sorrento arrives, where every island boat tour begins, and home to the most famous photo of the island: pastel houses stacked above the marina with Mount Solaro behind.
Ferry connections
From Naples (Molo Beverello): 50 min by hydrofoil (24 €), 80 min by ferry (16 €). From Sorrento: 25 min by hydrofoil (20 €). From Positano/Amalfi: seasonal, summer only. Tickets: Snav, Caremar, NLG. Book online in August — sailings sell out.
Boat tours from here
Island tour (2 h, 25 €) includes the Faraglioni, White Grotto, Green Grotto and a stop at Blue Grotto (entrance 18 € extra). Private skipper tours from 350 €/half-day. All depart from the marina kiosks.
The beach & tavernas
Small pebble beach (free section to the right of the port), sunbeds 20 €/pair at Bagni di Tiberio (10 min boat shuttle from marina). Best tavernas: Da Paolino (lemon tree garden, mains 35-55 €, legendary, reserve weeks ahead), Lo Smeraldo (mid-range, 25-40 €).
Getting up to Capri town
The famous funicular (3 min, 2.20 €, every 15 min) climbs to the Piazzetta, or take the bus (1.50 €, longer scenic route).
