Naveta des Tudons Menorca 2027: Talayotic UNESCO Site

Naveta des Tudons — Menorca's most iconic prehistoric monument, a 3500-year-old Bronze Age collective burial that looks like an upturned boat ("naveta" = little ship). Part of the UNESCO Talayotic Menorca inscription since 2023.

What it is

Built between 1200–750 BC. Two-storey funerary chamber, 14 m long, 7 m wide, 5 m high, made of huge dry-stone blocks without mortar. Excavated in 1959 — 100+ skeletons, bronze bracelets, pottery found inside.

Tickets & access

2 € adult, free under 12. Open daily May–October 09:00–20:00, winter 09:30–15:00. Small interpretation centre. Closed Mondays winter. 5 min walk from car park (free, signposted on Ciutadella–Maó road, km 40).

UNESCO Talayotic combined visit

Buy 6 € combined ticket — covers Naveta + Torre d'en Galmés (largest Talayotic settlement, 22 km away, 1 h visit) + Talatí de Dalt (15 km from Maó, beautiful taula). Allow a half-day to see all three.

The Talayotic culture

Menorca has 1500+ Bronze Age sites — talayots (towers), navetas (tombs), taulas (T-shaped sanctuaries). The taula at Talatí de Dalt and the village of Trepucó (2 km from Maó, free) are the most accessible. Cova d'en Xoroi (Cala en Porter, now sunset bar) was originally Talayotic too.
