Skaros Rock Santorini 2027: Imerovigli Hike & Sunset
Skaros Rock is the volcanic headland below Imerovigli and one of Santorini's most photogenic caldera walks. It was once a medieval fortress; today it is a short, steep trail with huge views.
The route
Start from Imerovigli square and follow the signed steps down. The walk to the base takes 20 minutes; continuing around to Theoskepasti chapel adds another 15 minutes.
Sunset and safety
Sunset is spectacular but the return is uphill and dark. Bring water, proper shoes and a phone light. Avoid the final scramble to the top if windy.
Best base
Imerovigli is quieter than Oia and has the best direct caldera angle, making it ideal for couples who want views without the nightly crowd.
