The beach
Grey volcanic sand, deep water (drops quickly), almost no wind (south-facing, protected from meltemi). Sunbeds 20-30 €/pair only at the central section — the rest is wild and free.
The cliffs
The white pumice cliffs behind the beach are sculpted into spires, holes and arches — they look like another planet at sunset. Walk the length of the beach to see them all (free, public access).
Vlychada marina
Small fishing-turned-yacht marina at the east end — pretty taverna row with the freshest fish on Santorini. Tarsanas (mains 30-50 €, sea views), The Cave of Nikolas (since 1968, fish 35-60 €/kg, the original beach taverna).
Parking & access
Free large lot at marina. 25 min by car from Fira. Bus from Fira to Vlychada (1.80 €, every hour).
