De Arco Naturale is Capri's meest onderschatte wandeling — een enorme natuurlijke rotsboog 200 m boven zee aan de oostklif, bereikbaar via een rustige 25 min wandeling vanaf Capri stad.
De wandeling
Vanaf de Piazzetta volg Via Le Botteghe → Via Croce → Via Matermania (bewegwijzerd). Vlak, dan 100 m stenen trappen naar beneden. 25 min enkele reis. Gratis, hele dag open. Dichte schoenen verplicht — glad bij nat.
De boog
12 m hoge prehistorische kalkstenen boog, door zeeërosie gevormd toen dit deel van Capri op waterniveau lag. Spectaculair ingelijst uitzicht naar het Sorrentijnse schiereiland. Uitkijkpunt heeft banken — het mooist bij zonsopgang (geen drukte, oostlicht).
Grotta di Matermania
200 m verder langs klifpad — enorme natuurlijke zeegrot omgebouwd tot Romeins nymphaeum (tijd van Tiberius, gratis). Koele schuilplaats in zomer.
Lunch bij Le Grottelle
Le Grottelle — Capri's spectaculairst gelegen restaurant, in een grot met terrassen over de boog en de Faraglioni in de verte. Hoofdgerechten 25-40 €, ravioli capresi 18 €, citroen-caprese 12 €. Reserveer. Alleen lunch, april-oktober.
Vervolg naar Punta Tragara
Het pad gaat zuidwaarts langs Villa Malaparte naar het Belvedere di Tragara (Faraglioni-uitzicht) — 30 min extra, de beste 2 u-lus op Capri.
